DIY Leather Pinecone

My lovely friend Susan from Freshly Picked, recently shared a tutorial for a charming seasonally-inspired Leather Pinecone. Yes, you read that correctly - LEATHER pinecone! Awesome, right?!

Since Susan works with leather for her Freshly Picked line of moccasins and accessories, she has a lot of scrap leather left over. I really admire her ability to make something wonderful out of pieces that might have otherwise been thrown out. I haven't given it a try yet, but it seems like if you don't have access to leather you might be able to adapt the tutorial and make your pinecone with stiffened fabric or wool felt. As soon as I have a second of free time I hope to make my own little collection of these cuties. Can't wait! I'm already imagining them hanging on my Christmas tree and topping gifts!

Have a fabulous and inspiring weekend everyone! See you next week! xo Ez

Indeed, I've made pine cones out of felt and a wooden dowel. You can also use thin cardboard or chipboard. I wouldn't have thought to use pipe cleaners and leather. Nice idea!

Love this! Way back I saw a felt pinecone, but never found a tutorial. I love it even more in leather. Can't wait to read the whole tutorial.

Very cool - I'd better not pick up yet another media to work in, though, or my craft room will truly burst :)
